Waste Notification Groups

This guide details the configuration required for setting up notification groups for waste collection reminders as well as adding customers to a group or joining a notification group through the customer portal.

Setting up the group

To create a group, you will need to navigate to Administration > Groups, and then click on ‘add’ to create a group. You should ensure the name is clear as the group name is what will be visible to customers when they are selecting a group to join.

To use the group for collection reminders, ‘bin collection’ should be set to yes. You are also able to configure a welcome notification which will be sent to the customer when they first join the group.

Scheduling notifications

Once the group has been created, you can navigate to Administration > (Notifications) Send to schedule your collection reminders. This screen will also display a full list of sent and unsent notifications to notification groups within the system.

Click on ‘add’ to schedule a new notification. There will then be a number of fields to complete. First, give the notification a name, and select the category ‘refuse management’.

The next step is to configure the details of what round the notification relates to, and who will receive the notification.

You can select whether the notification should be sent to residents, admins, or both. In the case of collection reminders, you will want both options selected here.

You can also select if you will be sending the notification to all relevant people to the selected round in the group, or only those on a particular street. Notifications to a specific street may be used to inform if issues affecting only a certain area, for example.

You will then need to select the bin group as the notification group that will be used, as well as the collection type and round for the notification. Make sure that the collection type and round are the correct pairing.

The notification can be sent immediately if required or can be scheduled. Set ‘schedule’ to yes and choose the required date for the initial notification. You can then choose the frequency at which the notification will be repeated by clicking on ‘add schedule’ and configuring the frequency as required.
