Geometry Capture
The new functionality allows the users to draw a polygon or a geometrical shape on the map to capture the location of the asset from the back-office or mobile app (MobileOps). It is useful in the scenarios where there is a need to capture an area along the asset.
There are no specific configuration steps involved to use this feature.
To use this feature from the back-office, the user can follow these steps:
1. Go to Assets tab and select any asset.
2. Select Add -> Location from the right-side menu.
3. Select ‘Geometry’ tab on the location pop-up and a map will appear showcasing your location.
4. From the left of the screen, you can select the options to add a polyline or a polygon shape.
5. Click on Finish to complete the process of drawing the line or Cancel if you need to restart.
6. Once you click on ‘Finish’ the geometry as per the shape will be saved against the asset as shown below.
7. To edit this shape, then click on the edit icon, make changes and save the updated shape.
8. To delete the shape or a specific line, click on the delete icon, and perform the action.
9. Click on ‘Add’ button to save this geometry against the asset.
10. It will then appear under the ‘Information’ tab on Asset detail page.
11. You can click on edit icon to view or edit the shape.
12. In the same manner as line, the ‘polygon’ shape can be captured and stored as a location against the asset.
To use this feature on the mobile app (MobileOps), the user can follow these steps:
1. Go to Assets and select any asset.
2. Navigate to Actions tab from the asset and click on Add ‘Location’. Select location type as ‘Geometry’
3. A map will appear showcasing your location.
5. Once you have completed the drawing, click to save the location.
6. If you want to delete the drawn shape, click on the delete icon.
7. To view the geometry locations captured and saved against the asset, navigate to locations tab from the asset.
The geometry capture feature from the back-office and mobile app will help the users to record the location in the desired shape and save it against the asset.
