How are addresses added to the system?

Our addresses are imported from AddressBase Premium. This service is provided by Geoplace, a local government partnership working with Ordnance Survey, and is imported into the system approximately every six weeks.

If the Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) is enabled on your system, Users will be able to select addresses using the Location Picker, from a pre-populated list of official national addresses. The service is derived from the following sources:

  • Royal Mail Postcode Address File (PAF)

  • National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG, One Scotland Gazetteer)

  • Valuation Office Agency (VOA) Non-domestic Rates

  • VOA Council Tax

  • OS MasterMap Topography Layer

  • OS MasterMap Integrated Networks Layer

Address data releases, known as Epochs, occur approximately every six weeks. The dates of the derived dataset are available here.

Each release involves a matching process of the various datasets. The NLPG is derived from data sent to the national hub via individual LLPGs from local authorities. There can be discrepancies between ABP and LLPGs, due to non-matching between these data source.

For example, if a UPRN is set as provisional or historic, or is not matched to a PAF record, it might not be included in the ABP dataset. Please be aware that we do not edit address data - we only import the data that is included in the Epoch.
