Why can I not find an address on the system?

We import the data that is included in the AddressBase Premium (ABP) Epoch updates, provided by Geoplace approximately every six weeks:

If you have LLPG addresses enabled on your system, this uses the address data from each Epoch loaded into the system.

Geoplace works in partnership with Ordnance Survey (OS), who acquire address information from various sources, including the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG).

The NLPG is derived from data sent to the national hub via individual Local Land and Property Gazetteers (LLPGs).  Each Epoch release involves a matching process of various datasets including the NLPG, VOA Non-Domestic Rates, VOA Council Tax, and Royal Mail PAFs.

There can be discrepancies between Ordnance Survey and LLPGs, due to non-matching between these data sources. If an address is missing on our system, there are two possibilities:

  1. Your local authority has not included this address information in their update provided to the NLPG in time for the Epoch release(https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/business-government/tools-support/addressbase-epoch-dates).

  2. The address information provided through the NLPG has not passed the matching process by Ordnance Survey and is therefore not included in the relevant Epoch.

IMPORTANT - we will not edit address data from each Epoch, and amendments can only be made from a subsequent Epoch load.
