With the Split asset feature, the administrator can split an existing asset into 2, 3 or 4 assets including the parent asset. This allows dividing assets easily by copying all the information available in an existing parent asset.
For example, if there is an asset called Cricket Pitch which needs to be further split into Cricket Pitch A and Cricket Pitch B, then this functionality will come handy.
- Go to Assets.
- Edit any existing asset.
- Click on the Split tab in the sidebar.
- Now, a pop-up window will appear to make further selections for the asset splitting process, where you can split an existing asset in 2, 3 or 4 assets as required, make selections for the information (Location, Tasks, Documents and Attributes) need to be copied from parent asset to the new asset. The values for classification region will be copied from parent asset and can be changed if required. You can choose to rename the existing asset (if required). Click on the Split button to complete the process.
- If you have selected NO for renaming an existing asset, then child assets will be created with names having alphabetic extensions such as A, B etc. as follows.
Note – For Attributes, the value will be divided equally when you split the asset. For example, the cricket pitch has 6 poles as attribute, then after the split Cricket pitch and Cricket pitch A will have 3 poles each. For odd number, it will round off to nearest value.
