How to inform the users about mobile app updates with forced and optional alerts?

When an update for an application is released to either the Android Play Store or the iOS App Store the administrator will now be able to configure alerts to notify customers that they are not using the latest version of the mobile app.

To configure these notifications, the steps are as follows:

  • Go to Administration - Self-service - Mobile.

  • Select the desired option from the ‘mobile app update’ list detailed below.

(a) No alert – If this option is selected, there will be no notification to the end-user about the app update from the portal side.

(b) Optional alert – This will inform a customer that a new version of the app is available, however, it will allow the customer to continue using their existing version.

(c) Force alert – This will notify the customer that a more recent version of the app is available and will prevent them from continuing without updating.

 NOTE

We will be updating the mobile applications incrementally to include this feature over the coming weeks. If you are interested in enabling this feature as a priority, please make a request through a support ticket.

Screenshots showing the customer view of each alert can be found below.
