What is the Password Policy?

The My Council Services password policy contains certain rules that every account must follow. The criteria are as follows:


1. Passwords must be between 10 and 30 characters in length


2. Passwords entered in the "New" and "Confirm" fields must be the same


3. Passwords must contain at least one letter and one number


4. Passwords must contain at least one special character, e.g. !"@$&()`*,-/:;<=>?_^~{} (this cannot be the first character in the password)


5. Passwords cannot contain repeating characters, e.g. aaa64135


6. Passwords cannot contain your sign-in ID, or the part of your email address before the "@"


7. New passwords cannot be the same as your previous password



 
Note


This policy will not impact existing passwords. Any new passwords, or changes in passwords, will need to follow these conditions.
